Business Leading Into a Great Experience

It has been a long year but it was a great opportunity and great experience. I had the opportunity to work with two down to earth women who were sometimes not what I expected but in the end it was all worth it. Their project when I first started I thought was going to be simple and only take a couple of weeks but it ended up taking over six months till it was finally finished. I basically had to start at the bottom toreach where they wanted to be. They had no idea where to start or what they wanted their brand identity to be which is where I came. I kept giving them options of different logos and titles to call their business and each week there was always a small thing wrong, not enough color, too much color, not catchy enough, don't make it sound like aging. I had to stay professional and just say okay and keep fixing it till it was exactly what they wanted.

After giving them some of my final options they really liked moving forward as their title. It didn't scream old, aging, or transitional moving. I just needed to find the right graphics to go along with it. When I thought of moving forward I think future and moving to something better than for almost like something is growing up to something great. I thought of trees, a tree starts out small and not fully developed yet but turns into something fully bloomed and gorgeous to see. When I had showed them this idea they loved it they got the concept and loved the idea. They loved how the colors went so well with each other and they were satisfied. The past six months was worth it because I finally got a real taste of what is to work with someone and realize want it takes and how long it takes to work with someone till they are fully satisfied. I enjoyed working with these two women and wish them the best of luck in how far this project takes them and I couldn't have been happier to work with them.

New York City

Going to new york city again was amazing ! I've been to the city in the past numerous of times and I love every second I am there. It is like a second home to me. I love the atmosphere and scenery and the fact there is always something to do or see. For this trip it was junior and senior and imdd that went along. Thursday-Sunday we were filled with all different activities. Thursday after a seven hour long bus ride we had finally made it into the city. Our first stop was time square. Time Square is my favorite place in New York City. It's huge and there is literally everything there. All different kinds of people, stores, giant billboards, people dressed up in costumes. Time square is the place to be. I love going up the big steps and looking at the tower where the ball drops every new years. It is always so lively and never quiet there is just so much to see and do.

Being in New York this time I actually learned and saw a lot and it really put an impact on what I want to do when I grow up. Visiting a marketing firm JWT the advertising for the department store Macy's really impacted my thoughts. I loved every second of being there and listening to Sara talk about her job and how much she loved it and the city. She started just like any other DECA student graduated and went to college but now she works for Macy's and with different celebrities creating great pitches and advertisements to get people to Macy's. I loved her and her job I wanted everything she had she was very happy with where she was in her life and I learned a lot from her. It really put some thought into what I could do in my life and where I want to be someday.

One thing that really touched me I think was having the opportunity to visit ground zero. I know 9/11 was a very terrible day and I thought the memorial was going to be heartbreaking and tough to go through. Visiting the church right across from ground zero and hearing the story about how when the towers had fell not one single thing was destroyed from that church. Walking into it and seeing the letters and writings from kids and others really touched my heart and almost brought me back to tears when I read them. I thought walking into this memorial was going to be hard but it surprised me was I actually really loved it. It was gorgeous the two big squares with the water falling endlessly to represent the tears and each individuals name carved into the stone. Being there I never felt exactly sad I felt just relief and so at ease that each person who had died didn't want this memorial to be sad but for people to feel at ease and I felt that. I felt I could have stayed there my entire day and relaxed. I love every second of it.

New York City is second home to me I know I have been there so many times it never gets old or phases to amaze because there is so much to see no matter how long your there and so much to do it is truly a great place to visit and one of my favorites.

One Stop Prom Shop

It finally happened ! After all the drama and stress the one stop prom shop finally happened and it turned out to be very successful! After the great turn out during the assembly and the impact it had on everyone it got more people to the event. The set up for this year was a lot different than last but, it still looked pretty amazing. I think since this year one stop had to be better than last more people came especially for the grand prize of winning a free prom !

During One Stop Prom Shop I was one of the models for the fashion show for American Commodore dresses and it was so much fun! Everyone looked beautiful and everyone had a great time. I loved American Commodore the lady who was in charge of the dresses and helping the fashion show look great made me want to buy a dress from American Commodore. There were over 57 booths there for all kind of needs: tuxes, food, restaurants, hair and nail salons, photography, and limos and a lot more giving out information coupons and having their own little mini raffles for people.

Overall, a lot of vendors seemed excited and happy with the turn out of how the event went and some said it was the best trade show they have ever done and been to. I can't say the exact number of how many people came or the amount of tickets we sold for the raffles but we had a great turn out and I feel it helped people with some of there prom needs. I can honestly say it was a lot of fun and I won a $500 raffle and it makes me more excited for prom especially since it is my last year and I can't even wait.

Harlem Shake

The Harlem Shake was a dance originated back in the 80s it was brought back by a rapper in one of his videos. It was where one person is just going crazy in a room full of as many people and they're just dancing while everyone else is being serious. Once the beat drops the room goes crazy and everyone is dancing to the song doing whatever.

Coming to class on tuesday one of us had saw this video and had mentioned the idea of trying to get all of us to do this to promote the one stop prom shop. Everyone seemed to love the idea and it sounded fun. We had planned everything out that wednesday who was going to be the one singled out in the beginning doing the dance, and what everyone else would be wearing or doing once the beat dropped and everyone was going crazy. We had shot it that thursday and it ended up turning out to be very successful and fun.

It was just released yesterday on youtube and we are already up to 898 youtube views and currently being favorited on facebook and twitter. Overall, it was just another way to promote the one stop prom shop through social media and catch more peoples attention. It was very fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. Check us out!

OSPS

One Stop Prom Shop has become one hell of a journey for interactive media and Deca class. We have all become one big family in order to make this huge event better than the year before. One Stop Prom Shop featured on March 3rd, at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio is truly a great event for people looking advice on making their prom one of the greatest nights. One Stop Prom Shop has become an icon for some of its huge features such as the morph suits , fashion show, the raffles , and all the great prizes. This event has helped people find the place for the perfect dress or tux, wear to get hair and nails  done, the best place to eat or where to find the best flowers. Every prom need is right here at the One Stop Prom Shop.

But back to how this all even got started. At first Deca had came to imdd asking for help on what we didn't think could end up taking all of us Junior and Senior Deca and Imdd. Imdd thought we were just helping planning the assembly to promote people to go not turning it into a huge deal. However, it did we began to realize we were getting into more than what we expected. Those who chose to be a morph and perform a dance begin to become more irritated and tired of the same routine practice every day no matter how much our teacher kept pushing them and telling them it is going to be great and only a few more weeks left. Everyone was just waiting for this be done and over with because of how much it has taken and the pressure it has put on our classes especially the juniors since they have had to build this whole event up from the very bottom. Along with the morph suit dance there was a video , a game show and also all the audience involvement  we had to present to get more people to come to the One Stop Prom Shop.

Overall, even though it has taken up a lot of our class it is going to turn out to be something great and better than the year before. It is really coming along and there is so much more. We have become one big family and work hard to make this really successful. I know after it is all over we're not going to have much to do but we'll be able to share the memories we created to share because of this great event !

Business Project

In Imdd we had to not only learn about what to expect when working with businesses but literally find a business to work with. I happened to find a lovely business which sounded to be fun to work for. I am working with two wonderful women who are partners working for a company involving transitional moving. Transitional moving is helping older adults, retired, stay at home parents prepare for their next step in life when they are being moved to a smaller peaceful location. When I first began working on this project I had no idea what I was getting into. I did not know what transitional moving was, or what exactly I was getting myself into. I did not know how big this project would get. I could not turn this project down it was worth the experience. The women I was working with were extremely nice and very understanding but at times it got difficult to know what exactly they wanted.

First, they wanted to create an image, a title for themselves but without stating what they were doing. They did not want their identity to sound like they were old, aging, transitioning, they did not want it to sound like a depressing mistake people were getting themselves into. I came up with three different options to look at. I created the titles of "Moving Forward, "A Living Journey", "Peace of Mind" each with slogan related to their names. I wanted to make it stand out but still relate to the point of what they are doing. I also made flyers to go with each logo I created to give them an idea for what it could possibly look like if they wanted to go in the route of a certain logo. Overall, I still am working with them and I think this is a great opportunity to take advantage of and I am looking forward to see how big this project is going to get.
